Raider(s) Of The Meet - The Raider Of The Meet award will be given to the athlete(s) that through their performances, caught the attention of the Coaches.  This week, the Coaches have selected Courtney Knight, & Katyla Sims,  as our Raiders Of The Meet.    Congratulations!
GW/Ram Invite
It was another great week with 40 PR's over 2 meets.  The Glenbard West Triangular and the Ram Invitational.  Some of my favorite moments from West would be Katyla Sims & Ania Gniatczyk running 66.81 and 63.64 inn the 400 Dash. Aram Mumani, Taylor Pickens and Kayla Crowder hit PR's in the discus, and Sophie Nelson running a career best in the 1600 M.Run.  Friday night at Ram saw the distance crew step up with Mikayla Jacoby, Katie King, Ali Salt, Fay Kay, Sophie Nelson, and Julia Clingen all turning in career best moments.  Sprinters Bianca Lupa, India Lucas, Emma Taylor, and Krista Kreshpanji had career moments with the 4X4 team of Ania Gniatczyk, Krista Kreshpanji, Maiya Todd, and Abby Schlenker turning in a seasons best. The Field crew had a nice day with highlights coming from Maggie Sim and Amara Bodine.  The trend is looking up for us!

Coach Crissey - The throwing crew showed some awesome perseverance this week along great performances for the week.  We had a strong week in practice that was followed up by some PRs.  This week's weather was not ideal for career-best performances, but several of the Raiders rose above the elements. Kaya Cloutier, Taylor Pickens, Kayla Crowder, Erin Nelsen, and Daya Fatuga set PRs at the West Triangular. I am especially proud of Kaya and her will to improve each week.  Also, Taylor and Kayla have formed a friendly rivalry this outdoor season. Both ladies continue to push themselves.
At the Ram Invite, Ciara Jackson and Maggie Bair continued with their consistent performance in Shot. Ciara had two marks nearly at 35-feet  and Maggie at two near 31-feet.  Grace Buckley set a new PR in discus, but I know she isn't satisfied.  Ashley Dodge made vast improvements in her discus technique. I know she wants to break the 100-foot mark, and that will happen soon enough.  Another stellar week from Grayson Breen. At West, she tossed the discus 125-feet. I am most proud of his performance at the Ram Invite. Grayson overcame frustration and doubt to toss out a meet best of 115 feet to capture 1st place.

Coach Orlow - Distance runner of the meet Courtney Knight.  It was a great night for the distance crew. We earned team points in every distance race with many running to PR performances. In the 4x800 Bianca Montenegro (2:52.72) Danae Kay (3:07.11) and Shayan Malik (3:23.39) all set relay PRs. Everyone placed in the 3200m with three athletes setting PRs. Julia Clingen (13:05.49) Mikayla Jacoby (13:54.5) and Katie King (12:41) ran superb races. In the open 800m Abby Schlenker just missed a PR but Ella McLaren nailed it with a 2:50.44. We just missed 4 for 4 in the 1600m with three distances runners breaking PR marks and Courtney Knight running a sensational race and just missing one. Kat Acabal (6:14.08) Faye Kay (6:33.59) and Ali Salt (6:08.46) all broke their previous best times.

Coach Tacchi/Crenshaw - As I recognized earlier we had some very nice performances overall form our sprinter-jumper-hurdlers.  My only concern is we haven't quite put it all together yet.  With Conference-Sectional-State coming up fast, some tough decisions will have to be made.  There's no more time to "get serious."  It starts today as we move forwards.  My favorite moments have already been described but if I had to narrow it down, I'd go with Kayla, Krista, and Emma.  Let's build on that!
