Mustang Relays/JV Invite Open
Performing your best. That's all any of us can ask for. However, to perform your best at that moment in time requires your best effort. While that doesn't guarantee your best time, jump, etc, it does mean you won't have be saying, "I could've done better. We have to get past the could've done better phase and move to, "I gave it all I had" phase. That's where we need to be. At the Mustang, it's hard to argue over our best performances of the year. Only the girls that competed can tell you if it was their best effort. As far as the JV meet, I thought it was a bit of a mixed bag. Quite simply, very few of you warm up. You tend to just show up at your events, and often the results show it. The Team warm-up at the beginning doesn't count. You must warm-up for your events. Give this some thought. Make changes if I'm talking about you.
Coach Crissey - The throwers put on a great show on Wednesday at the JV 5-team meet. Kylie Miskovic set a new PR with a mark of 17-11. Kaya Cloutier continues to improve each week. She had two marks in the 27-foot range. Anna Widicus popped out a new PR with a put just over 20-feet. Some very exciting throws this at the meet from Nikki Newman and Ciara Jackson. Nikki continues to show great promise with using the glide technique. She had a mark just over 30 feet. Ciara Jackson set a season PR with a big toss of 34-3. Great job ladies.
Coach Bledsoe - It was a late night on Monday for the Raider Relay Teams competing at the Mustang Relays held at North Central College. The competition was tough, but the Raiders were up to the challenge. Dropping a whopping 15 seconds off of their best combined time, The 4x800 relay team of Julia Clingen, Katie King, Cassidy Shirley, and Ellie Stewart have their sights set on State. Wednesday night's Raider Invite also saw some improvements in 800 times with Mikayla Jacoby, Danae Kay, and Abby Knight on the verge of breaking into a sub 3 minute 800. Kat Acabal, and Ali Salt stepped up to some tough competition, and had the two best times in both of their relays. Way to go!
Coach Tacchi - The sprinters/jumpers/hurdlers continue to build PR's as Carla Esmane, Casey Wheeler, Kaitlyn Jepsen, Heaven Carter, and Amara Bodine had career, or career matching PR's. The Varsity Relays posted 4 season's best performances. The 4 X 200 of India Lucas, Joslynn Hibbler, Lamya Pulliam, and Suvannah Williams took off 3 seconds from their previous best. India, Lamya, and Suvannah teamed up with Katyla Sims to take almost 10 seconds off their 4 X 400 previous best! Kudos to Julia Clingen for getting after it in the 3200 M Relay with a 2:35. It's just the beginning Julia.
Team Reminder - Bring those warm clothes this week! JV Home Meet on Wednesday!
