Raiders Off To Unusual Start!

The Raider Girls XC 2015 edition got off to an unusual start at Lyons Township High School on Saturday, September 5th. What was supposed to be a 5K (3.1) for our JV, FS, and Varsity Girls turned as quickly as the weather. The JV race was stopped a little over a mile in when lightening crashed the skies. At that point, Hanna Johnson was leading the JV squad with an opening 6:58 mile with Grace Gibson (7:29) following Janna in her first ever CC race! Up next was the 7th place finishing Varsity which highlighted the return of Diane Lipa. Diane and Abby Schlenker flew through the mile at 5:45 finishing 12th & 19th with Courtney Knight pulling in at 38th. Following the Varsity was our 2nd place finishing Frosh/Soph Team. Running in a tight pack of Ava Childs, Elizabeth Cizek, Julia Clingen, Gisela Hagedorn and Emma Johnson, The FS Raiders were all in the top 20 at the 2 mile mark when opposing teams started passing them and heading into the finish! Oops, someone forgot to tell Coach Orlow the race had been shortened! Overall, a great start to the 2015 season for the Raider Girls!
