Raiders Surge to State
Sunday, November 2 2014 - IHSA 2A Girl's Cross Country Sectionals - Wheaton AcademyFor the 4th year in a row and 5th time in program history, the Glenbard South girls cross-country team qualified for the IHSA state meet this past Saturday at Kress Creek Farm in West Chicago. Led by the individual win by senior Rebecca Sippel (now the second Raider in program history to win a Sectional race!) and fellow all-sectional placer Caroline Arlasky in 8th, the Raiders finished with 80 points and a second place finish to Lemont. All 7 girls finished in the top 40 and all 7 girls broke 20 minutes for 3 miles. Abby Schlenker, 21st in 19:00, Ava Childs, 30th in 19:25, Reganne Schihl, 35th in 19:36, Courtney Knight, 38th in 19:42, and Becca Everhart, 39th in 19:50, rounded out the scoring for the Raiders. Other state qualifying team members include Chloe Fry, Jayme Schlenker, Alyssa Flores, Erica Mote, Bri Fonseca, and Lauren Washington. The gun goes off at 11:00 am at famed Detweiller Park in Peoria for the 2A girls championship race on Saturday, November 8.
