High school cross country: Glenbard South, girls set sights on state meet

Outlook: Already the girls track coach, Mark Tacchi takes over the girls cross country program and inherits a team that finished ninth in Class 2A a year ago. From that group, Glenbard South brings back three of its top seven in Ava Childs [95th at state], Abby Schlenker [119th] and Courtney Knight [123rd]. Also returning to the team is Diane Lipa, who was third individually as a sophomore.

“I believe we have the tools to compete for a conference championship and qualify as a team for the state meet,” Tacchi said. “And I think we have the potential to return to the top-10 [at state].”
